  • Holiday

So, I am oficially on holidays, from today.

I have a bit of painting work to do, on comission and I may also start painting on my project for an exhibition.
Still don't have a theme, but somehow "The sun" doesn't go away from my mind.U-(

I'm also planning to sell my clutter on ebay and by that I mean I'm planning, not I'm going to...:>>
    We shall see.

Now that involves actually a lot of work, as I am a junk collector, so I can't see a real holiday here...|-|

I also plan to take a few days off to travel and rest, but the dilema here is teenage daughter, dog, money, hubby wanting to drive anywhere!!, me wanting to fly....mmmmm.....
    We shall see.

    ***_____***_____***

In another news, my baby daughter is going to Ibiza tomorrow!!!
And I was already worried but now I'm crying with my heart in my mouth!!
You heard about the airport being closed yesterday with yet another ETA bomb attack on the island, didn't you?

I think I may take my pyjamas now and eat some lunch.:DD

  • My old chair

There's an art competition (all sorts of art)going on and one of my groups were invited to participate.

Dennis said, oh I'll do a poem, my paintings are not good enough.
And he did and he made us all cry, I think he should win the first price.

    My old Chair

    I live in sheltered housing

    I love my little flat

    I haven't got a dog

    I haven't got a cat

    So when I'm feeling lonely

I sit in my old chair

And think of all the good times

When my dear wife was there

    I lie right back

    And close my eyes

And roll back all the years

And think of all the happy times

    The sadness and the tears

    And then at night

    I turn on the light

And take the phone off the hook

And settle down in my old chair

With a whisky and a book

    And when I'm feeling tired

And the last page I read

    I put down my book

    Turn out the light

And make my way to bed

    Dennis Doyle

Hope you enjoyed it as I did.

  • Mission accomplished

Well...kinda...for the first time since I became a teacher, 3 students are not getting their certificates. I tried my best but if I don't have any decent evidence, how can I assess?

But I don't feel well, somehow feel guilty, athought it's not my fault...

Anyway, all folders done and delivered, still a lot of end of the year paper work to do, but that can wait til Monday.

My manager also offered me a new course to teach community interpreters, not something I love BUT that shows that he trusts me and THAT I like.:)

On my way home, I was thinking how this all started...

    I'll tell you later:>>

  • The most amazing...

    ...Art ever !

So I go in to the art opening and in front of me I see this!

    THIS IS ART!!

Can't remember the rest of the night:>>

  • Almost done

I spent the weekend working on assessment of portfolios.
Only 5 left to finish, to deliver til Friday, not bad.

My eyes are sore, my hair is a mess, my eybrows are in urgent need of pluging, my moustache needs bleach, my nails need a manicure, my back needs a massage, but as I delivered my big bag of folders and my manager had a quick look, and he was very impressed, SO it was worth it!

Two more weeks of work and then I can sleep.
Or go on a holiday IF I win the Lottery.|-|

In other news the swine flu is getting closer to us. One student, who was IN class last week is now on quarentine, 6 of Alex's colleagues are also with it. Pigs!

Hope you all have a great week, I will keep in touch, but now have to get ready for a Vernissage

    See you later:wave:

  • The true about the swine flu.

    From Jornal do Brasil:

Things Policy - Influenza in pigs and minds of men

    Mauro Santayana Mauro Santayana

The government of Mexico and agribusiness seek deny the obvious: the flu scare that the world began in La Gloria, Perote district, 10 km from the creation of pigs Granjas Carroll, a subsidiary of the powerful multinational business, to Smithfield Foods. La Gloria is one of the poorest villages of the country.
The first to contract the disease (the patient zero, according to medical language) Edgar Hernandez was the boy of 4 years, which managed to survive after being medicated. Probably your body has served as a platform for the genetic combination that would make the virus more powerful. A strange flu had been found in La Gloria, in December last year and in March, it has spread rapidly.

Residents of La Gloria - some employees of Carroll - have no doubt: the source of the disease is the rearing of pigs, which produces almost 1 million animals per year.
According to the animal feces and urine are deposited in oxidation ponds, in the open, on whose surface thick cloud of flies they reproduce. The industry became a hellish life of the residents of La Gloria, which are located on the lower slopes of the mountain, receiving the polluted water in streams and groundwater. The contamination of the underground tanks has been denounced by the authorities, by a municipal health officer, Bertha Chrysostom, even in February, began to emerge when cases of flu and diarrhea in the community, but said nothing.

According to Mr Duran Athanasius, the Granjas Carroll had been expelled from Virginia and North Carolina for environmental damage.
Within the rules of NAFTA, could move in 1994 to Perote, with support from the Mexican government. By treaty, the U.S. company is not subject to the control of the country.

It is the tragedy of the countries dominated by neoliberalism: always accept the rot that kills.

The episode leads to some reflections on the modern agro-industrial system. As the purpose of business is profit, all its operations, including those of political nature, is subject to that right.

The concentration of the food industry with the creation and killing of animals in large scale, even when accompanied by all the care, is a permanent threat to workers and neighbors. The establishment on a small scale - at the family farm - has, among other benefits, to limit the possible cases of illness, with the immediate elimination of the outbreak.

The animals are fed diets that lead 17% of fish meal as the Organic Consumers Association, the United States, although the pigs did not eat fish in nature.

According to other sources, the animals are vaccinated, treated preventively with antibiotics and antiviral drugs, hormones and undergoing genetic mutations, which also explains its resistance to some infectious agents. Thus, they become hosts that can transmit the virus to humans, as occurred in Mexico, according to assume the health authorities.

The Granjas Carroll - as in other latitudes and with companies of all types - have a social foundation in the region, which apply tiny portion of their profits. It is the duty of hypocrisy.
Thus, these capitalists engambelam public opinion and neutralize opposition to the community.

A social action should be the state, funded with the resources fair tax.

What has happened is that the opposite: the states subsidize large companies, and these give crumbs to the wrong call "social action".

When accused of violating the law, companies are justified - as occurs in Brazil, with Daslu - arguing that funds studies of a dozen children, distributing a hundred baskets and maintain a basic block of volleyball in the vicinity.

The Mexican government pressure, and the World Health Organization agreed to rename the swine for avian influenza-A.
To remove the adjective which identified its etiology, hid the information that people are entitled.

The disease was diagnosed in a boy from La Gloria, beside the waters infected by Granjas Carroll, an American company creates pigs, and on examination was found the strain of swine flu.

The rest, which is known so far, is the collusion between the conservative government of Mexico and Granjas Carroll - with the complicity of the WHO.

  • Australia

    Just watched the film "Australia".
Brilliant! I'm not a big fan of Nicole Kidman, she's a good actress but lately her films have been a bit boring, but this one is Top Ten.

Obviously, I'm going to be working all night because I was not supposed to watch a film and I was not supposed to be here right now!

This sentence is from the film and I love it:

Just because it is, doesn't mean it should be.

And another one from yesterday (somewhere):

Life is not about waiting for the storm to pass...it is about learning to dance in the rain.

    Back to work:(

  • Assessment

  • Zico

I know this is not the right place but whatever...

I have a signed photograph of "Zico" on double mount.
    Bought it for £48.

Does anyone want to buy it for £40?

It may be worth a lot more, or not! ;D

    One can only ask...

  • The way up to the tower. Episode 2

Most of the way up is very dark, I could hear voices, I could barely see the bells, the heaviest bells in the world and finally I saw light!! The views are amazing but surprisingly it started raining. |-|

Enough for today. I'm going to do some work.

  • The way up to the tower!

This is the first episode of the way up to the tower.

It should be forbidden for people who suffer from claustrophobia.
    I don't...but I was ALONE!! ;)

  • The Movie!

Yes, my filming skills are amazing, I know, but apart from that if you wanna comment on my first film on youtube, I would appreciate.
It's 7 minutes long, but well worth it! ;D

Oh, and it is Liverpool Anglican Cathedral and THE Art exhibition

  • Day 4...

I believe I have no more sins to confess.
4 days inside the cathedral, I actually learned (or revived ( is this a word?))a few things.
90% of church women are not smiley or friendly. I have a theory on why that is, but I don't dare to say it loud.:>>

Anyway today I took one of my groups to visit the exhibition and they were so happy and thanked me so many times, I didn't know what to say.

Tomorrow is the last day so I'll have to take all the paintings from the boards and bring them home and then separate them and give them back to the owners.

Oh and Tom Cruise from LA signed my guest book today!|-|

But I also sign as Marylin Monroe on guest books so not sure if I should believe this.B)

I am going to try and post the video on youtube.

  • Day 3

church person - You can't be here.

me - But I'm with my exhibition...

c.p. - you are welcome to sit back, but you can't be here, we are having a service.

me - (waving to student who has just arrived) what time starts the service?

c.p - It starts at 3 and finishes at 4. and you can't be here.

me - okay, she just arrived, don't worry we'll leave before 3.

    c.p - ............................

I'm really impressed by how friendly and polite some church people are.
    Ouch! It hurts, really. Amen!

So, I had 1 hour with a church service, what could I do? I went to visit the tower!

It's 10 floors and the views are amazing, the way to get there...spooky!
I made a film and will try to post.

Once the service finished I went back to check on the exhibition visitors.

There was a young lady, showing great interess in the paintings, so I approached her and said:

me - Would you like to chose your favourite painting and sign our guest book?

    y.l. - Sorry?

me - Would you like to sign our guest book?

    y.l. - What? Sorry?

    me - *pointing at guest book* , s i g n g u e s t b o o k?

    y.l. - Oh yeah, ok.

me - What language do you speak?

    y.l. - English, you?

    :))

I checked on the book after she left. She's from Canada.

  • Beautiful song

    Lovely lyrics....

As if I understand Greek :)) BUT the guy is hot!!

  • Day 2

    Day 2 in the cathedral.
The exhibition so far is a huge success!
as would be expeceted hundreds of people viewing, I mean it's Liverpool Anglican Cathedral, the amount of people who visit the venue is just impressive.
People from all over the world.
One of the Bishops ( or something like that, God forgive me ;)), looked at all the paintings in admiration. He asked me if I was Maria T. and I said yes.
    He praised the exhibition saying:

-I've seen many art exhibitions, but I can say this is the best one, EVER!
The variety incredible and looking at the pictures and recognising places is really exciting. When does it finish?

And I said Tuesday, and he said, oh, my wife can't see it then, she only visits Liverpool on Fridays! But CONGRATULATIONS!

I am very pleased and also dead. Dead tired.;)

My new magnificent digital camera decided to behave bad and all the pictures are blury! grrrrrrrrrreat!

But it's okay, I'll survive, back tomorrow to check on the paintings and take more pics.
Shame I had my hair done TODAY, but it's okay.

I am quite sad the media is not noticing this...I want to be famous, damn!

I am half a sleep now...

  • My Ghost story .

    Rampie started.:)

I actually have quite a few. But my dad always told me, sweetheart there is a scientific explanation for everything. And I still believe him, althought sometimes it is confusing;)

Anyway, we moved to this house 8 years ago. It is an old building,I've tried to look up on the internet to see how old it is, but no success.
I'm guessing 80-100 years old, but I may be totally wrong.

And the reason why I was (and still are) curious, it was because of our friendly Ghost that visited us quite often.

A few years ago our lights started going up,down, shaking,up,down, shaking. The Tv would turn on and off alone...

The girls were terrified and I always said it was an electric problem.
Fact is when I was alone,I would talk to "her", ask her questions and she would answer...with the lights!

I know it's a young woman dressed in white, because quite a few people, who used to vist us...saw her!
Always in the same place,at the top of the stairs.

I never saw her, but quite often would feel her behind me.

And then we got Oliver, the westie.:)

And sometimes, Oli would be very quite, asleep on our feet and then suddenly would run and start barking consistently to ...the top of the stairs!

It happened several times. And then it just stopped.

I'm guessing she's afraid of dogs.

I know it's nonsense, but I kinda of miss her.
Because she was nice, not like the horror woman dressed in black that used to torment me every single night when I was a kid. I still have a vivid image of the bitch!

    So,what's your Ghost story?

    xx
