Jacobite, this is for you

Yesterday... Today... and Tomorrow

There are two days in every week about which we should not worry, two days which should be kept free from fear and apprehension.

One of these days is Yesterday with its mistakes and cares, its faults and blunders, its aches and pains. Yesterday has passed forever beyond our control.

All the money in the world cannot bring back Yesterday. We cannot undo a single act we performed; we cannot erase a single word said. Yesterday is gone.

The other day we should not worry about is Tomorrow with its possible adversities, its burdens, its large promise and poor performance. Tomorrow is also beyond our immediate control.

Tomorrow's sun will rise, either in splendor or behind a mask of clouds - but it will rise. Until it does, we have no stake in Tomorrow, for it is yet unborn.

This leaves only one day - Today. Any man can fight the battles of just one day; it is only when you or I add the burdens of those two awful eternities - Yesterday - and Tomorrow - that we break down.

It is not the experience of Today that drives men mad - it is the remorse or bitterness for something which happened Yesterday and the dread of what Tomorrow may bring.

Let us, therefore, live but One Day at a Time.

Let's Talk

by Miza-T @ 2008-05-26 - 15:18:40

A guy was seated next to a 10-year-old girl on an airplane. Being bored, he turned to the girl and said, "Let's talk. I've heard that flights go quicker if you strike up a conversation with your fellow passenger."

The girl, who was reading a book, closed it slowly and said to the guy, "What would you like to talk about?"

Oh, I don't know," said the guy. "How about nuclear power?"

"OK," she said. "That could be an interesting topic. But let me ask you a question first. A horse, a cow and a deer all eat the same stuff... grass. Yet a deer excretes little pellets, while a cow turns out a flat patty, and a horse produces clumps of dried grass. Why do you suppose that is?"

The guy thought about it and said, "Hmmm, I have no idea."

To which the girl replied, "Do you really feel qualified to discuss nuclear power when you don't know shit?"

Hospital

by Miza-T @ 2008-05-24 - 00:37:22

My Alex has been having abdominal pain for a week. A few days ago I took her to the women's hospital. And they found out she's not pregnant! Clever!
We went back again for an ultrasound and as everything seemed fine the doctor tought it was a good idea to ask for another urine sample. After a while, she came back and again, guess what? She's not pregnant, so everything is okay! I had to be slighty rude and explain we KNOW she's not pregnant!! that's not why we are here!! and no it's not okay she's still in pain!
Next day she goes to the walk in centre, doctor says it's not apendicitis because if it was you would be dead in tree days, but it may be an infection, or gas, take some farting pills. If it doesn't get better go to your GP.
Today she was still in pain, phoned the GP, it was full, advised to go to the a&e.
So we spend a lovely afternoon, more precisely 5 hours in the hospital.Apart from the delay, can't really complain, doctors were very attentive, made blood tests, more pee, we played with the bed remote control...a lot!:DD and had a free diner, which was actually delicious.
Results are all normal, painkillers were given, the mistery remains.

Now she's out with boyfriend, went to a gig:??: I said NO! she went to her bedroom, and after an hour or so, came downstairs all dressed up so she's okay, although still in pain.

Oh dear, will I ever stop worrying?

just something

by Miza-T @ 2008-05-22 - 00:30:00

I was reading meno's story in Berlin, about not speaking german and remembered a funny thing that happened many years ago in Switzerland.
We were driving across the French speaking part of the country, and I speak French, but hubbie doesn't. So we were lost and I stopped the car to ask for directions. A lovely very attentive smiley lady, spent about 5 minutes explaining how to get to the place. And I just nodded and said mercy beaucoup. Back to driving hubbie asks, what did she say?
and I said, I have no idea, that was german!:)) We were not far from Zurich:))

Greek night

by Miza-T @ 2008-05-18 - 02:02:40

We went out last night to celebrate my birthday. I decided for a greek restaurant,http://www.christakisgreektaverna.com/
and the food was absolutely fantastic as always. We had belly dancers and greek male dancers, very nice indeed.
The most gorgeous dancer picked me to join him on the "Zorba" dance.
It was hot!:DD
The owner came for a chat with us, just to tell me my daughters were very beautiful and to introduce his sons, very good looking as well, I think he was after something:P

After a fantastic family night out, the damn waiter swept my debit card twice because apparently it hadn't been trough and guess what? Today I checked my account and yes I've paid the bill...twice!!!

So, I phone to the restaurant and Cris, was like : Ohhhh, Maria !! how are you today, bla,bla,bla...all smiles and that. When I told him what happened he kinda of didn't trust me, so he said he's gonna ring his bank on Monday! I will have to go there show him my statement and get my money back.
I learned something, I will never pay bills again on the card, from now on, it will be old fashion money into action again.

But I know I will go back to Cristakis because it is worth it. Top 10 in quality.

I just realised I am a stupid optimistic. My weekend so far:

* took the dog to the salon, the woman cuted the tip of his willy, had to go to the vet,and back to the salon to make the woman pay for the vet bill!!:##

* Had to take my baby daughter to the hospital, she's been in pain, have to go back on Tuesday for an ultrasound.

* Got my first wages from my new part-time job, they've got it wrong, phone the place, the woman apologised millions of times, as claims were stuck to each other and she only saw one!!

*Go out for a meal, I'm charged TWICE!!

and I'm still smiling!! What's wrong with me??

Critics

by Miza-T @ 2008-05-02 - 16:48:22

Critics are like eunuchs in a harem;

they know how it's done, they've seen it done every day, but they are unable to do it themselves.Brendan Behan

I so agree with this quote:>
