My Alex's boyfriend was invited to go on this ride, they were mates.

Call it destiny...
The boy was apparently known for being very quite,had just passed his driving test, and invited his friends to go for a ride.

What a tragic waste of young lives.
I don't think young drivers should be allowed to take passengers until they are over 21. Boys especially find the temptation to show off in front of their mates too hard to resist.

... i have attended a funeral of 17 yr old boy, my son's best friend few years back, my son wasn't able to join his friends that weekend they went up north, he would have been in the car that his young friend has lost control off and smashed accidentally against the tree...
it was the most devastating thing i have ever felt, the loss of life , as they are only just beginning to live it......,
there's no explanation for it just tears and sadness!
