Magic!
I've dreamed of visiting Brazil since I was little. Years ago, I decided to open a shop selling semi-precious stones from Brazil. I used to buy from this place http://www.legep.com.br/index_ingles.htm
I had a huge poster up on the wall saying:
"If the paradise is not here...it must not be too far..."
Obsession!
And I ended up living in Brazil for 7 years.
And it is magic!
The most beautiful place, with the most friendly and warm people.
The country is huge, and there are so many amazing places o visit. From the breathtaking beaches to the stunning countryside.
A few places you should visit if you go there:
Porto de Galinhas

Salvador da Baia

Rio de Janeiro
Ipanema beach
Ilhabela

Campos do Jordao

But, anywhere you go you'll love it.
You have to go to any restaurant that says "Rodizio"
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rodizio
The food is absolutely fantastic! From all types of delicious and tender barbecues to all the sort of salads you can imagine.
Forget about english breakfast! If you stay in any hotel ( any!) you'll see what a breakfast is.
It is actually one of my first memories, the huge table with all the colourful fruits, juices , etc...

And the big cities!! Great fun! Nightlife! Forget the pub man...
Oh and there are very beautiful people as well, I was spechless once in this place http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Barra_da_Tijuca
Oh dear the surfers are...ahem....wow
Many tourists go to Brazil to visit the Amazon forest

I've never been there, because it's far too dangerous. Unless you are loaded and have a guide, it's not a good idea. Or if you are really an adventurous person...too scary for me
Now, the down part !!
You have to learn to behave!!1. Do not even bother packing flashy jewelry, gold, or platinum and diamond-studded watches. If you've got it or like it, this is place to buy them but not the place to flaunt it...
2. Carry along a photocopy of your passport, in case you are asked to show some ID. Leave the original together with your driver's license in your safety box (if you have one,of course).
3. Do not take along more cash than you need.
4. If the worse happens and you are approached by some criminal element, try and keep calm. Never fight back. They definitely have guns, and would react violently. You certainly have more to lose than they do. Give them what they ask.
5. Walk with a sense of purpose, as if you knew where you are going to. Looking like a victim is the first step to becoming one.
6. If you bring along cameras, camcorders or laptops, consider an insurance.
7. At the beach, do not leave your expensive camera, passport and/or cash laying around on the sand unattended while you go for a few laps. Do not hide your money in your £100 trainers either, or you will lose both (that's an old one).
8. Flip flops, shorts, T-shirts to go. No brand names! No £100 trainers! They love them!
9. Most of these thiefes are a lot smaller than you (children), don't underestimate them! They also carry guns and can kill because the law doesn't condemn under 18s!
Well, life isn't perfect is it??
But nothing could have prepared me for how beautiful this land is.
Night night everybody, and Row hope this helps, and if not, please don't hesitate to ask.
xx
